Divorce records in Maine
Is there anyway of finding a divorce record if the exact date is not known? My husband's grandparents William & Alice were divorced. They were together in the 1930 census, but William is found alone in the 1940 census. Apparently, they divorced between this time period. They lived in Littleton, Maine and the divorce would have been probably in Aroostook County.
Any help would be appreciated.

You can probably get the divorce record from the Maine Vital Records office if you give them the names, date range and probable county where the divorce was granted. The Maine State Archives has on microfilm an index of divorce records, and I assume that the Vital Records office has the same index.

Thank you for your response. I will see if they will do a search for a 10 yr. date range----can't hurt to try.
