Looking for death
I am looking for information on Josiah L Smith I found him in Ellsworth, Dedham, and Brewer, Maine. His wife name was Eliza Cook the children I know are Celia, George, Julia, Alton and Minnie. I know he lived to be 100 becuse he is on the 1930 census. How much longer he lived I don't know. Need to know where he was born and who his mother and father were.

Google search found this Josiah at 102 years of age in Hartford Courant 19 Sep 1931, You could possibly buy the article to see if it contains the info you are seeking, I did find Eliza's Death record and noticed you didn't have it on your ancestry tree.
Perhaps is is buried next to her?

I found his Obit on Ancestry, You'll have to have your account open to read it. But it doesn't have his parents named in the article. I going to post it here just in case? Hope it helps.

They also had a son Edward Brinton Smith, who died 20 Feb. 1875 in Mount Desert, aged 5 years, 5 months. The 1870 census gives his date of birth as Aug. 1869.

The 1850 and 1870 census records have an Asa and Hannah Smith in them living very near, They are of the right age to be the parents of Josiah. Just a possible clue? Asa Smith was born abt 1790 and Hannah was born abt 1791 and they lived in Ellsworth, Maine. Just a suggestion only for futher research.

Thank You for the help I did see Asa and Hannah in census have no way to prove they are his parents there was a fire in Ellsworth and very few records remain.
