New Maine Databases in FamilySearch Record Search
There were dozens of new databases added to the FamilySearch Record Search site today, including a few of special interest to Maine researchers.
Eventually these will be searchable from the Maine Genealogy website, but that service is temporarily down. Update (28 Apr. 2010): The databases are now searchable from this site.
Maine Births and Christenings, 1739-1900 - Name index to birth, baptism and christening records from the state of Maine. Microfilm copies of these records are available at the Family History Library and Family History Centers. This set contains 940,882 records. Due to privacy laws, recent records may not be displayed. The year range represents most of the records. A few records may be earlier or later.
Maine Marriages, 1771-1907 - Name index to marriage records from the state of Maine. Microfilm copies of these records are available at the Family History Library and Family History Centers. This set contains 597,508 records. Due to privacy laws, recent records may not be displayed. The year range represents most of the records. A few records may be earlier or later.
Maine Deaths and Burials, 1841-1910 - Name index to death and burial records from the state of Maine. Microfilm copies of these records are available at the Family History Library and Family History Centers. This set contains 172,879 records. Due to privacy laws, recent records may not be displayed. The year range represents most of the records. A few records may be earlier or later.
