I'm looking to see if there is any connection between the Samuel Robinson abt 1740-1785 who married Mercy Staples in 1786 Deer Isle and the Robinson who came from Gloucester Mass. Samuel was a common name for the Gloucester family.

There is a Samuel Robinson born 1706 in Gloucester who married Elizabeth Littlefield born 1708 Manchester (MA) whose child John Robinson born in Gloucester 1740  and died in Deer Isle bef Jul 1801

Many thanks for your thoughts

Samuel and Elizabeth Robinson of Gloucester did have a son Samuel, born in January 1731/2. In Essex County deeds, Samuel Robinson of Gloucester—acting as administrator of the estate of Samuel Robinson—sold his father's land on 8 April 1786. Lydia Robinson, presumably the younger Samuel's wife, also signed the deed. Samuel Robinson, Jr., and Lydia Allen had married in 1766.

Thank you for not banging on the typo - Samuel Robinson married Mercy Staples in 1765, not 1785. With two different wives in two different locales, these are then two different Samuel Robinsons. So I'll look for another set of parents. Thanks.
