As a supplemental application for DAR, I am trying to establish a link between Isaac Strout of Cape Elizabeth (d. 1818) and his son James (b. Oct 1774). Of course, the information for DAR must be documented and that's where I'm stuck. Does anyone know of a source that documents the link between this father and son?

If nothing can be found in Cape Elizabeth VRs, you could try to find out if early baptism records from the Second Parish church have survived. The Maine Historical Society might know. As Isaac and his first wife were married by the pastor of that church, one would think their children were baptized there.

Since Isaac later lived in Limington, you might check York County probate records to see if he has a file.

It looks like Isaac's widow Mary applied for a bounty land grant from the state. It's a long shot, but there might be some genealogical info in the application. You can order a copy here.
