My Scotish ancestor was William Black, b.1727 in Paisely Scotland.  I'd like to know more about his parents and life as a child in Scotland.

Hi,  When did your William Black come to New England/Maine?  I'm chasing a Marjorie/Margery Black who may have married a William Smith or Gowen.  He is descendant of the Scots who came as British Prisoners of Cromwell.  Anyway, good hunting!

My William Black came to Nova Scotia in the 1772 to 1775 as part of the Yorkshire migration and settled in the Sackville NB area.  there is a cemetery in Dorchester where several of his descendants are interred.  James Hennigar Black moved to Maine in the 1880's or 90's and is buried in Winthrop Maine.  He was a veterinarian.
