I just found a note that a Jim Stevens has compiled a list of every schooner built in Maine. He also did research on the history of the vessels. His entire collection was given to The Maine State Library in Augusta.
My ancestor Stephen Brown, a settler in Bucksport, ME, said to have gonePerhaps more information on the schooner "Betsy and Jane" can shed some light on the fate of my Stephen Brown. Does anyone have a little time to check on the Schooner "Betsy and Jane" in the Augusta Library?

I took a trip to the Maine State Library in Augusta recently - it appears I am misinformed about the location of Jim Stevens research collection - no record in the Augusta Library. The reference librarian Emily Schroeder was most helpful, a few days later she sent me the following email:
"One of my colleagues referred me to the Boothbay Region Historical Society, which has a number of “document boxes” in its possession. They have one specifically for Jim Stevens, and that is Number 9. You can reach the Society at P.O. Box 272, Boothbay Harbor, ME 04538-0272, or via e-mail: brhs@gwi.net ."
Unfortunately, I did not have time to visit Boothbay.
