Trying to find information on Ferdinand Nilson, born in Sweden, married Minnie Brown from MDI in the late 1800's. From stories I remember he could have been lost at sea. Any comments, help. Thanks Bill

Found this on a message board. I have been told that my grandfather has a relationship to Jenny Lind. His name was Ferdinand Nilson, bn 1869 in Sweden, died in 1907 in a shipwreck. He emigrated to the U.S. between 1875-1888, and lived on Mt. Desert, Me., where my father, Lawrence Nilson, was born. I have very little info on my father's side of the family, and anything would be most appreciated. I am told the family name was spelled Nilsson in Sweden.

Hello everyone,

My name is Brett Daigle. Looks like I'm the new guy to your Swedish forum here. Wanted to intro myself. I've been doing family research for about a year and a half and just found the Maine Genealogy Network site just the other day. My mother and here ancestors are from northeastern Maine. I'm at a point in my research where I'm starting to look for other venues for answers to my questions. Libraries, family resource centers, websites etc.

Anyway, just wanted to let y'all know I'm here and will be reading your comments. If I can help anyone in anyway I will.

Thanks.

I would like to recommend my favorite Swedish research aid - my paternal side is Swanson - or in Sweden it is Svenson, son of Sven. The book is "Cradled in
Sweden" by Carl-Erik Johnasson, (Everton Publishers: Sandy Utah, 2002).

Keep in mind that the lineage in Sweden is traced through the maternal side, not paternal.
