Scott, we're definitely cousins from the Barrows line. Harvey's grandfather Ansel Barrows was the brother of my ancestor Asa Barrows. Their parents were Moses Barrows and Deborah Totman. No connection though that I can find yet through the…

Hi  Scott, It's possible we might be related because while I don't know all the particulars yet on the Richardsons, my relatives did live near Norway Maine. Which Barrows are you related to?

A TREASURE TROVE OF FAMILY PICTURES

Last Friday I got a great early birthday present in my mail: two cds from

my West cousin Lewis Wuori containing photographs and other images.

As I told him in an email, it was like discovering a treasure trove. There

are pictures of ancestors whose faces I've never seen before! I've been

sharing them with my various cousins from the Wests and Richardson

families(alas, no Barker or Ellingwood pictures) and posting them on

Facebook on my profile page…

1899 SUMMER PLEDGE DRIVE FOR THE UPTON UNION CHURCH

Discovering the Upton (Maine) Historical Society page on Facebook has

put me in touch with several new found cousins and it has been a lot of

fun sharing pictures back and forth. One particular set of images were of

special interest to me.

When Dad married my Mom he converted to Roman Catholicism from

Protestantism. I don't know which Protestant denomination Dad was

brought up in; it just never came up in any conversation that I can…

MORE RICHARDSON PICTURES

Last week after I posted the anniversary reunion picture of Jonathan P West

and his wife Louisa Almata Richardson I discovered that the Upton, Maine

Historical Society has a Facebook page. The picture had been taken on

Back Street in Upton so I thought perhaps a member of the Facebook

page might recognize some of the other people in the picture. Unfortunately

no one has as yet but there was another benefit, namely meeting some

more cousins. One of…

GENEALOGICALLY GOBSMACKED YET AGAIN!

Prior to attending the Ellingwood Reunion in Norway, Me. today, Cheryl

and I took a swing through Upton Maine on business pertaining to the

West side of the family. As we drove along Route 26 Cheryl pointed out a small

cemetery we passed in or near Newry, Maine, but we didn't have time to stop

at the moment  and I didn't think there were any relatives buried there anyway,

Our business required us to keep going west on 26 through the Grafton…

THE 85TH ELLINGWOOD REUNION, AUGUST 13TH 2011

Today (August 13th) was the 85th Ellingwood family Reunion. Originally

begun by the children and descendants of Asa Freeman Ellingwood and

Florilla Dunham Ellingwood, it is also open to any descendants of Ralph

Elinwood  who came to America and settled in Beverly, Ma. in the 1600's.

In fact anyone Ellinwood, Ellingwood, Ellenwood or Ellwood are descended

from Ralph. The reunion is always held Saturday in August and for some time

at the home of Jerry…

Hi Bill,

Glad you got back with me, it's always nice to know there are more parts of that family tree out there.  I haven't really had any time to look into this any further, as I am still working for at least another year or so, but then I'll be looking into all my family.  We also have cousins that are Barkers in South Paris and Norway, ME.  I have been in touch with them in the past as their grandfather and my grandfather were the same. I will try, when I have time, to look on your blog, but your pictues are great. Look forward to getting into this a little more. We are trying to get ready to go to Maine right now, as I work for a local school district here in California and am off for the summers and we travel with our motorhome to Maine to try and fix up a house we bought a few years ago in Thomaston.  I have a lot of cousins there in the area that were on my father's side. Well, have to get for now, but take care and keep searching.

Hi Bill,

My grandmother was Ruth Barker and she was born with her, I think 2 brothers and 2 sisters in Bethel, ME  Their father was Eben Barker and their mother was Florence.  I would really like to find out what happened to a lot of these people from her past. I believe she was born in 1902 and I don't know about the others and one day soon, I will be able to have time to find out a lot more than what I know now.  There was a Nathaniel Barker in the way past  as the dates I have are that his birth was in 1794 and death was 1884.  I will have to get busy on this. I live in California, but we do own a home back there in Thomaston, ME that we go to in the summer to fix up for when we retire which will be within the next two years. Maybe this summer I can find out more.

Hi Bill,

I haven't attended the reunion since I was a little girl. I would love to have anything that you are willing to share on Asa. Where and when is the reunion? How do I get on the list to receive Ellingwood news? Thanks,

Pam

I am descended from James, Nathaniel, and Jacob of Rowley, Mass., then they moved to NB., Canada as UEL, Asa of Maugerville, NB, John Wesley of Burton, NB, William Edery of Burton who moved to Montana then to Alberta. Wm Edery was my great-grandfather.

Have you perused 'Barker Genealogy' by Elizabeth Frye Barker? It is not 100% accurate but has a lot of info on many Barker families.

Hi Bill,

Asa Freeman Ellingwood and Florilla Dunham are my 3rd Great Grandparents so we are related. Their daughter Nina is my 2nd Great Grandmother to Annie Florilla Gibbs, my great grandmother. Her daughter, Fern Lyndell Cotton was my grandmother. I grew up in Bethel and currently live in Windham.
