Hello Donna.  Thanks for befriending me.  I do not live in Maine anymore but all my ancestors are from there.  Mainly Lincoln and Kennebec Counties.  A short time ago I knew very little about my family and now I have notebooks filled!  My maiden name is Leaird.  I am currently researching the names Leaird/Laird/Leard/Larde and even a Leyard (which I found yesterday!)  Women they marry have maiden names of Ripley (Mayflower descendent I believe) Hopkins which is a Mayflower descendent, Aliff and Morse.  Do you live in Maine?  I look up and see that you have a Wallace in your family.  I found a William Wallace in my family who married one of the Leard's in either Massaschusetts or Rhode Island, I'd have to look it up.  The Internet is such a dream come true for my research.  I started over 30 years ago and about 3 months ago I started it back up again. (You know how life gets in the way)  I have found out more in the past 3 months than I did over the course of 30 years.  Dare I say, it's thrilling!  I shall email you very soon and give you some Hopkins information and perhaps we can find a link.  Marti.
