Benjamin Leighton and Jane Webber

I am wondering if I could receive assistance in an attempt to find the burial place (or at least more information) on Benjamin Leighton and his wife, Jane Webber. I have them both dying at Mount Vernon, Maine. Jane on 5 Mar 1823 and Benjamin on 8 Jan 1824. These dates come from Perley Leighton's "A Leighton Genealogy," so the information came from someplace but I don't know the exact source. Benjamin was the son of Capt. John and Sarah and was born 1735 at Dover, NH. He married at Wiscasset, 16…See More

Permelia and Isaac Leighton, March 19, 1874

"Good ideas. I tried GenealogyBank this afternoon but need to spend more time looking at the results. Of course the Belfast historical society or local library could definitely be of help. I'll try that. Thanks."

"I checked out familysearch.org but all they had was the info you already had. Have you contacted the Belfast ME historical society or the county seat that keeps records? Perhaps try a library or newspaper to find her obit."

Doris Armstrong 1932-1991

I would like to find Doris Armstrong, b: 1932, d: 1991 according to her headstone, Lane's Island Cemetery, Vinalhaven, Knox Co. She was apparently from Belfast [Maine]. Assuming Armstrong was her married name. This is all I know. I would like to find info to, if possible, complete her Find A Grave memorial. I have tried an Ancestry search. Planning to try GenealogyBank as well. Any ideas or thoughts on how to move forward with this sketchy info would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance.See More

"The death date here is incorrect. A death notice that appeared in the Portland Advertiser, puts Ephraim's death date as 15 Mar 1851."

Making sense of conflicting records

I'd be interested in Chris' or anyone's take on this little dilemma: Ephraim Leighton Sr., born Jan. 1765, Edgecomb, died 10 Dec. 1849, Augusta, or so his tombstone says. However, he appears on the 1850 census. He is living with his son, Ephraim Jr., where he was living since at least the 1840 census. The census was enumerated in August 1850. In this case, if another record cannot be found, I'm thinking I would defer to the census but I'm not sure. How could a stone carver get a date wrong,…

how to make photo album on this site

I know this sounds ridiculous, but I cannot make the photo album work for me. I sent a message the other day to "report an issue" but haven't heard back. I also checked other forums. When I drag the photo to the box as indicated, the photo shows up in my browser, taking the place of the MGN page. There's no save button just a blank browser page with the photo. I've tried this in Firefox and Safari with the same results. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
