My husband is a descendant of Henry Green, son of Stephen & Yvonne Serote . He has had his Y chromosome testing done and it shows that that his Y ancestry (L21) is linked to the British Isles , especially Wales, Scotland & Ireland. However,…

Gertrude Boyden/York/Lambert

My grandmother died in 1926. My grandfather, Alvia F. York Sr., remarried 9 Nov., 1929 to Gertrude E. Boyden in Portland, Maine. I believe she was from Bangor. My father and his sister were living with their grandparents and did not know Gertrude. Some time about 1930 Gertrude and Alvia were reported to have had a child (a son I think). The marriage did not last long and on 17 Oct 1935 Gertrude married Leo E. Lambert in Portland. I believe Leo died in Dayton, Maine (York County) on 1 June 1979.…See More

Gerry, I was referred to you. I am wanting to know if you can assist me? Here is my statement:

My Grandfather came to Colorado as a young man of 25 and to my knowledge left no family history. He is suppose to have been born in Calais, Washington County, Maine on December 31, 1865, and arrived in Colorado in 1890. Who his parents were is a large question? According to US census reports both parents were born in Ireland and that is all I know.

I have written to the city of Calais and there have not records that can assist, can you?

His name was George Frederick Black.

My husband is a descendant of Henry Green, son of Stephen & Yvonne Serote . He has had his Y chromosome testing done and it shows that that his Y ancestry (L21) is linked to the British Isles , especially Wales, Scotland & Ireland. However, when he had his overall ancestry done, it shows a high linkage to the Tsongas tribe in Africa. this would not be surprising, given that Henry married Martha Black. In addition, we don't know anything about Stephen's parentage. He does plan to have some upgrading done later this year.I have often wondered if there was any relationship between Henry & Benjamin Green of Phippsburg.

Thank you sooo much for the information. It is my understanding from what you wrote that Benjamin's wife, Nancy's last name was CAREY? Is that correct.
I have been exploring these roots for quite some time and I do have a copy of the interments for Charles W. Johnson, his wife, Harriet, his daughter, Rachel (who was married to Emil Peterson), and Nancy - Harriet's mother!. They are all buried in Bath, Maine. If you would like, I can send you the copy of the interment I got from Bath.
