Charlotte Marshall left a comment for Nancy Norton- NixThanks to a member of Maine Genealogy Net, Jean P, I might have found out why I can find no information on my 4th GGrandfather Nathaniel Norton's parents. Nathaniel was b. 1 Aug 1762 in Sanford, ME according to Rev War records. He married Hannah Sawyer and all but one of their children stayed in Maine. Charlotte Marshall said… Hi Nancy,
I am not familiar with any of the Norton names that you mentioned. But, there is a Norton reunion each year (or at least there was) at the Madame Nordica (Lillian Norton) homestead in Farmington, ME. I attended it once in the early 2000's at which time I had not yet found who my Norton ancestor was. I was just going on memories of my grandmother telling me that I was related to Madame Nordica, a famous opera singer in the early 1900's whose real name was Lillian Norton. It turns out that we have common ancestors and are cousins about 8 x removed. If I run across the names of your family members, I will let you know.
Charlotte Marshall said… Hi Nancy,
In the Norton line, I go back to Nicholas Norton b. 1610, England, d. 1676, Edgartown, MA and his wife, Elizabeth Isaac, d. 1690 Edgartown, MA and then through three of their children, Benjamin, Ruth and Joseph. But, my closest Norton ancestor was Delia W. Norton, b. 1822, Addison, ME, d. 1875 in Addison, ME, m. Jospeh T. Thompson, b. 1809, Jonesboro, Washington, ME
