Here's a theory for you: Frederick Eugene Tubbs lived in West Paris in 1910. He was born in 1886, so he would been the right age to court Marjorie. On 17 Sept. 1911 he married the widow Susie Smith (Roberts) Whitman in Bethel. Susie's first husband, Perley M. Whitman, had died 14 Sept. 1910, leaving her with three small children (two other children died the same month as their father). She then went to live with her step-father, who died a few weeks later. Susie's late husband had worked with Frederick at his father's mill, which explains how they knew each other.

So how might Frederick and Marjorie have known each other? Bethel and West Paris were just three train stops apart. Maybe Frederick attended Gould Academy in Bethel, and met Marjorie there. Or maybe Marjorie taught a term of school in West Paris after graduating. Perhaps Marjorie wasn't interested in marrying yet, and Frederick ended up marrying Susie after her period of mourning was over. Just a theory...

Is the symbol for that last initial closed at the top? It's hard to tell from the picture. If not, could it be a "T." instead of a "W.," with the dots going sideways instead of up and down? If so, I might have a candidate with the initials "F. E. T." who lived in West Paris, was of the right age, and was looking for a wife in 1911.

Any other clues about who "FEW" might be? Male or female?
