Hi,
The Jasper I believe is the father of Samuel H. Marston (1833-1860) was born ca 1809 according to the 1850 census of Portland. Wife was Lucretia H.(1811) Siblings were Merritt W., 13, Sophia A.,12?, and Charlotte A., 9. Couldn't seem to find anyone in 1860.but Samuel H. was listed in the 1858/59 city directory of Portland. Melville C. MAY be the Melville listed in the 1866 Portland c, d. as Mrs. Melissa Marston was there also but at a different address.
I live about 3000 miles from Maine but have visited Portland, Gray, Richmond, Augusta, and some of the coastline. Absolutely beautiful state. Love it

Thanks for your reply. Melissa Sarah Thompson or Sarah Melissa Thompson was born 1833 and married 1854 in Portland, Me Samuel H. Marston b. 1833 d. 1860 Portland! Believe he is the son of Jasper Marston of Portland.
Melissa died 1872 place unknown. !870 census the children, Melville C. b.1856 and Ada L. b 1860 died 1889! She was listed as a school teacher. Resided with grandmother, Sarah Thompson of Gray. I am curious how Samuel and Melissa died so young as well as Ada. their daughter. Strange to me as most of the family lived very long lives. I've tried to find how they died. Accidents? Any clues will be welcome.

Michael Knight of Pownal, ME is a great-great grandfather who married Jane Brown of Pownal. They had two children. After Jane's death Michael removed to Barnstable County, MA. where he remarried. He died in Middlesex County ca 1881.
Any connections?
I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Tammy,
I think I found your Marston family! I have a lot of information in the Marston Genealogy on them. Your family is in the Thomas Marston line as mine is. Kind of neat. The family genealogy goes back to 1634 so if you want me to make copies of the sections for your line, I will send them to you by mail. I think the copies would be clearer that way.
Let me know and I will get started.
