Chris--Thanks so much for the information. It sounds very promising and I will check it out further. You have really been a big help.
Jean Stacy Gore
Hiram's birth was recorded in Sangerville, but I believe he was born elsewhere. The record of his marriage intentions shows that his bride was a resident of Brunswick. I checked Cumberland County deeds, to see if Hiram had come from there as well. If you search for Hiram Stacey, you will find a deed from 1827 (recorded in 1831) in which Hiram Stacey of Sangerville—together with Susannah Stacey, widow, of Minot and several other members of the Stacey family—sold land in Minot which formerly belonged to John Stacey of Minot. I think you will find that Hiram was the son of John and Susannah Stacy. I believe that his father was the John Stacy who married Susannah Cummings of Merrimack, New Hampshire, in 1793, as John sold land to her brother Cyrus Cummings in 1802.
