Greetings!

I have seen items listing Aaron Allen b. 1766 m. Huldah Harris and Aaron Allen b. 1776 m. Martha Prince. Both Aarons are supposedly from Jay, Maine. Can anyone working in this region or with this surname confirm one or both? Were they the same Aaron?

Thanks for looking!

Aaron Allen Jr. and Martha Prince married in New Gloucester in 1797, and had children recorded there in 1798 and 1804. A deed dated 17 June 1805 [Cumberland Deeds, 48/154] confirms that the wife of Aaron Allen of New Gloucester was then Martha. The family later removed to New Portland, where the births of five of their children are recorded.

The marriage intentions of Aaron Allen of Jay and Huldah Harris of North Yarmouth were published in Jay in April 1801, and they were married 6 Feb. 1802. They are buried in Jay.

Thanks for clarifying, Chris. I've learned that it always pays to ask. Best wishes!
