I am researching my grandfather, James Albert Savage who was born about 1885 or 1886.  I believe his parents may be Joseph and Catherine Savage.  I have conflicting information about whether he was born in St Francis, Maine -- or St Francis, New Brunswick.  In the late 1800's, was there a bridge or some other form of easy access between the two towns?  Did one family farm on both sides of the border?

Joseph Savage was living in St. Francis Plantation, Maine, when he bought land there from Martin Savage on 25 July 1885.

This detail from a 1877 map of St. Francis shows how the inhabited lots were laid out so that each had some frontage on the river:

Thank you for the information.  I'm a novice at this and can use all the help I can get.
