Thanks for correcting that I am not going to delete it because the info on John F. Berry is included. I assume John F. Berry was their grandfather.  THanks, cousin Jean

The story of Mary Homan Berry being of indian descent has no proof. I was told by Ken Smith she lived with  Westbrook G. Berry who died in 1861.  They lived in a wig wam made of mud on Berry property off Jacksonville highway. I think it was not true but who knows. Times were tough and I have found their earliest born children living with the Young family.  They were not in the census with the children.  Jeanne

What is Westbrook's pedigree look like?  I am trying to find the correct Berry line for the Berry side of my family (as opposed to the Richards side of my family who was descended from William Berry of NH. Strawberry Banks/Sandy Point.)

I think there is a Westbrook buried in Rockport.  I'll check.

Hi Heather

I have only gone back to Scarborough, ME where they sailed up north to get away from fires burning and settled the town of Machias, ME   Westbook Berry Jr's father is John Berry Jr.  I have to look in my suitcase full of stuff to see which Westbrook Berry Sr married Jane Freeman and died young she remarried again. I have seen my line go all the way back to the 1600's on Ancestry.com just recently I had time to fool around looking at stuff. Google Berry's from New England or Scarborough, ME their is the largest list I have ever seen online. They are so well documented and Maine was under Massachusetts until 1820.

I think on Ancestry.com Mary Lee Allen has the line going way back.  I am always on ancestry awaiting an answer on Sam Bagley eventually. born 1794 or 5. All of Cutler, Maine's  papers were lost in a fire so no help at all going there. I noticed a lot of the family named their kids Westbrook Berry also.

I am thinking that Charles Amon Berry is not related to the Machias Berry family (or descended from William Berry of England-- NH Strawberry Banks).  Charles's father was Amon Dailey Berry who I believe I have found hanging out in Machias, but have found him in Camden which is where my family is from, or ended up.  However, his parents are Jonas Berry and Jerusha Daily I believe. I follow Jonas's line right to England.  I hope it is right, but I keep looking at other possibilities as well just in case. The Richards side of my family is related to William Berry of England-- NH, or the Machias Berry family.  My great grandparents were Herbert Allen Berry and Charlotte Lovell Richards.
