Sons of Ansell Knowlton

Greetings all, I'm sure many of you have come to this site in much the same way as I,..searching for answers because nobody in the family can get the lineage questions right. After a few years of doing the occasional backtracking and time investment, I discovered that my earliest ancestor is Ansell Knowlton, born in Aroostook in 1815. That seems to be where he trail goes cold for me as I don't have access to church records or census dating around 1790 for that area. I'm trying to discover who his father was and was he the first of our long line to immigrate from Dorset England.
