Brian,
Not aware of an Ellen in the family in the 1890's. My great grandfather William married Eva Mason and they had 5 children. The youngest, Richard, was my grandfather. See below:
Best,
Ric
My Higgins Ancestor (closest to me from Maine) is:
Nathan Augustus Higgins (b 1823 Eastport, ME been told he was born in Eden from some other ppl) s/o Simeon Higgins and Margaret Bell. He married Sarah Campbell, they settled in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada had had a bunch of children. Their son Nathan Augustus Higgins II married Sarah Ann Kyle, they had most of thier children in NB, then they moved to Cambridge, MA, where they had their last two children: Samuel (M) Nathaniel Higgins (My great grandfather) and Nathan Augustus Higgins III. (can see them on the 1900 census of Cambridge, MA)
Sorry, but sounds like a different branch of the family. My folks moved from Essex County circa 1780 and settled in Northport/Penobscot Bay. Later family members relocated to Swanville/Belfast. As far as I know, they stayed in that general area until they moved south to Cambridge MA. Thanks.
