The Dr. Paul house on South Main St. , Solon, neat!!  You are related to the Rice family too?  I had a man , last name Rice who signed a document in re. to Jean Toscan. Wonder if they are connected.  hmm...

Good morning Deb.  It is good to hear from you and I thank you for your interest in looking for any info on my family (TUSCAN).    I would like to find out who our John Tuscan's father was.  Or Nancy Merrow, his wife, who her parents are and where, with certainty either family came from.   I have looked at Jean Joseph Marie Toscan, Vice Consul from France as a potential father for our John, but he married Elizabeth Parrott and they had many children. She was much younger than he was.  But none of their children were named John.  So was our John an out of wedlock birth?  Our John's son, on his death record said his father was b. in Greenfield , NH.  Jean Toscan died in GREENLAND, NH in 1805.    On a Bingham record, it lists John Tuscan and his family as "Tuskins".   But all other things I have seen call them TUSCAN. So.. I really am at a loss.   There was a John Tuscan in Scotland, and there are Tuscans in England, Austrailia also and so I have not clue, but Jean Toscan was the only one in the 1780s  time period that has the name equivalent.   If you could help in any way I would appreciate it. Thank you so , so much.  Sal

Hi Deb,

I have researched the Hanscoms pretty thoroughly with the general information thats out there. What Im really looking for is the missing pieces that others havent been able to solve. I know Thomas showed up in Kittery in 1650 but no info on how he got there. There possibly was a Thomas Hanscom in Salem in 1630 but he disappears from record after that. Im also looking for info on the land that the Hanscoms owned in Eliot and info on where a few of my ancesters might be buried. Anything that you have would be greatly appreciated. I have read about both the Spencers and especially Chadbornes. A very impressive family in Kittery history. Thanks for getting in touch.
