I am interested in learning more about the Willetts , descendents of and relatives of an August Willett of Carabou, married to Hattie Landry . Son, Eugene was married to Velma Oakes and moved to Millinocket.
My mother, Margaret M. Willett (Plaisted) was Eugene and Velma's daughter. Eugene died at 23 right after his death and married a Mathias Hartley. Velma left my mother with August and Hattie in Millinocket to raise.
Interesting stories related to all these folks.…

Hi There, Why I asked if you were adopted and searching for your history is since I have gone online recently to do more investigation, I have been bombarded with "professional" searchers. I was curious if you might be and honestly with the help of some great folks on this site, have received some great info. I really believe that the right for people, and the resposibility of ours to inform ourselves of our past, our history, genetics and the rest should never have a price on it. It is like social services, once the dollar bill got attached, as with Social Workers who work in Adoption and Foster care, and for that matter all other areas of Soc. ser., we then began to "own" what isn't ours. Anyway, if you are helping someone that is great. I wish more people would help others. I am trying to understand it all, so I could help someone else.
The interesting story about the Eye and Ear Inf. imay for me, not be so much the place as my delivery doctor. I heard in a discussion, actually an indirect hint, that my mother was a maid of the doctor who delivered me. He may have been more than that. So it is one more possibility that he, or Carl V Plaisted ay be my father. He married my mother just a couple of months after she had me. He and she may not have wanted me because of my deformity as noted in my discussions. Anyway, anywho..your so lucky your in maine. I would move there in 1 second!! Good Luck!

Hello, and here we go! Where to begin: I'm not adopted, but didn't learn of my real birth father till I was 47. I've found all my answers, except....why? These days, I'm helping a friend, Paul X, to find his birth family. Born and adopted Feb. 1955 from MEEI, by a family, Mr&MrsXXX in Portland, ME. He's getting no real help searching from the family.
I assist people in genealogy as well, as working on my own Gross/Gray/Lupton tree. What I'm learning of this MEEI, sounds very dark & eerie, yet some mighty powerful, money people & groups developed that area for a real purpose.
My questions: Any fires in that building after 1955 till the one in 1970? known? The birth mom's last name might be O'Toole. The adoptive dad's & his father, has Hartley as a middle & first name. Paul says it was an adoptive service thru the First Baptist Church with regards to a Rev. McAlhenny. okay, that's cool for now. Happy Hunting, and God Bless, Cindy
