I am looking for any of the poetry or songs written by James Milee, also known as James Millea (great great grandfather of Edna St. Vincent Millay). James lived from 1755-1816. He came to Maine at the age of 14 and lived in Harpswell and later Bowdoinham. He was well-loved for his verses which took on political as well as personal subject matter, including the "Power of Tyranny" and the "Triumph of Liberty." His songs and jingles were apparently widely sung in Maine and people reportedly…

I read the book by: The Devil of Great Island, by Emerson W. Baker. It was a very good account a case of "Witch Craft" or poltergeits activity in the town of Great Island in 1682 and the tavern of George and Alice Walton. The event was witnessed Richard Chamberlain, the secretary of the colony of New Hampshire, was boarding at the Walton tavern. He kept a journal account of the incedent which he published in 1698. In his account he names the event Lithobolia and calls it…

Alan, I have the Marriage Registration of Walter but not the birth registration of George, who was my grandfather. Walter and Katherine Tobin (not Mary) and George moved to Cranston, RI around 1930ish. George married a RI girl and moved to CT around 1940, which is where we are still.

Any information on the Penney family would be greatly appreciated. My great grandfather was Walter Joseph Penney, who was born in Maine and moved to Massachusetts and finally Rhode Island. His son, George Joseph Sr., moved to Connecticut where the rest of my family ended up. My father was George Joseph Jr.
From what I have gathered so far, Walter's parents were George and Anna (Webster) Penney which seems to make the line relatively easy to trace back to Thomas Penny.
