I have been publishing an index of Viger families since 1991. The current 2013 will be available FREE of charge to anyone who may wish to trace this line back to France. Currently I have over 5,000 names, many photos and a 27 page index. The index includes spouses. The Vigers in Maine came mostly from the Richmond, Quebec area, where my family is from. If you have any vital records and photos that you would like to include, let me know. If you would like to find that missing link I have a…

I have been quite intensively researching ancestors and relatives some last years. Recently I have spread my research to Maine, for there have to live some people, whose not-so-distant ancestors are from my nearby munincipalities.
Especially I try to collect my Niskanen branch, but there are also other surnames too.
For I have already got much of help here, thanks to especially Chris Dunham, I would like to try to help anyone there at Maine finding your Finnish…

The Association for the Relief of Aged Indigent Women was founded in 1856 and their first residence opened on Elm Street at the corner of Oxford Street. The building was razed in the 1970s but occupied the small parking lot next to what was until recently the Lighthouse Shelter for teens. At the time the building was occupied by the Home they owned both lots. In 1872 they removed to a larger home they had built on Emery Street which is still extant and part of Waynfleet.
During their…

So finding out information about my mother is harder then I thought. She seems invisible. If only I could find out what she was doing in 64-65 Id be closer to finding my birth father. I dont want to give up the search for him but this really does seem imposible. If I cant even find one person who knew her in 65 and knew where she was and who she worked for.....
so far I have been told by my moms best friend....my mom worked for a couple and she was their babysitter. One night bringing…

I'd be interested in Chris' or anyone's take on this little dilemma: Ephraim Leighton Sr., born Jan. 1765, Edgecomb, died 10 Dec. 1849, Augusta, or so his tombstone says. However, he appears on the 1850 census. He is living with his son, Ephraim Jr., where he was living since at least the 1840 census. The census was enumerated in August 1850. In this case, if another record cannot be found, I'm thinking I would defer to the census but I'm not sure. How could a stone carver get a date wrong,…

I know this sounds ridiculous, but I cannot make the photo album work for me. I sent a message the other day to "report an issue" but haven't heard back. I also checked other forums. When I drag the photo to the box as indicated, the photo shows up in my browser, taking the place of the MGN page. There's no save button just a blank browser page with the photo. I've tried this in Firefox and Safari with the same results. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
