Introduction to “Murders at Montville”

Introduction to “Murders at Montville”

"Murders at Montville" is the product and culmination of the genealogical research done for the descendants of Mildred E. Whiting. When tracing her ancestry, it was discovered that, when Mildred was 18 years old, she had an illegitimate child, fathered by a married man.

That child, born in Holden, Massachusetts, was unwanted and abandoned, brought to Maine, adopted in Albion and renamed. She married a man…

ABANDONED TRAILS IN ACADIA NATIONAL PARK

This trail, as well as all other trails that led up to the summit of Huguenot Mountain were abandoned by the National Park Service with no explanation as to why, however the Park Service  has had a history of abandoning any trail that brings hikers close to it.  As perfect examples of this, they abandoned the Bear Den path, the Anemone Cave trail, the caves of Day Mountain and the…

Looking for any information on William and Hannah Walton

William and Hannah Walton had a son, Henry A Walton born in 1840 in Portland Maine. I can find no birth certificate. Henry then shows up on the 1850 census living with John Walton .. not sure what the relationship is. I found a clipping stating a William Walton died of Fever in 1848 in Norway Maine. I can find no death certificate. Because of this clipping I believe John Walton was William's brother and took custody of Henry. I have never found anything that mentions Henry's mother Hannah.…
