My Grandfather came to Colorado as a young man of 25 and to my knowledge left no family history. He is suppose to have been born in Calais, Washington County Maine, on December 31, 1865 and arrived in Colorado in 1890, Who is parents were are a large question? According to US census reports both parents were born in Ireland and that is all I know.

His name was George Frederick Black.

Does anyone have some suggestions on how to find any information on parents or his family if there were one. .

Yes!  Canada their was a large Irish imigrant population.  Look for information in the founding fathers of New Brunswick.  There were also Blacks in Bar Harbhor and Ellsworth area and on Deer Island.  I have some Blacks in my family tree from Deer Island.  Good luck
