Deed: Charles Dunham to Lemuel Dunham, 7 May 1857


Know all Men by these Presents,

That I Charles Dunham of Hartford in the County of Oxford and State of Maine (Yeoman) in consideration of the sum of Sixteen hundred Dollars paid by Lemuel Dunham of Hartford County and State aforesaid (Yeoman) the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge, do hereby give, grant, bargain, sell, and convey unto the said Lemuel Dunham his Heirs and Assigns forever a certain piece or parcel of Land situated in Hartford aforesaid it being lot numbered Eleven in the Eighth Range of lots in said Hartford containing one hundred and twentyfive acres more or less

Also another piece or parcel of Land situated in Hartford aforesaid and bounded as follows to wit, Begining at the Southeast corner of Lot numbered twelve in the Seventh Range of lots in said Hartford thence North on the East line of said lot to a line dividing said lot in the centre, thence West on said centre line to a line dividing said lot in the centre runing North and South, thence South on said centre line to the South line of said lot, thence East on the South line of said lot to the bounds first mentioned conveying one fourth part of said lot.

To have and to hold the afore-granted and bargained Premises, with all the privileges and appurtenances thereof to the said Lemuel Dunham his Heirs and Assigns, to his and their use and behoof forever. And I do covenant with the said Lemuel Dunham his Heirs and Assigns, that I am lawfully seized in fee of the Premises ; that they are free of all incumbrances ; that I have good right to sell and convey the same to the said Lemuel Dunham to hold as aforesaid. And that I will Warrant and Defend the same to the said Lemuel Dunham his Heirs and Assigns forever against the lawful claims and demands of all persons.

In witness whereof, I the said Lemuel Dunham and ________ wife of the said ________ in testimony of her relinquishment of her right of Dower in the above-described premises have hereunto set my hand and seal this Seventh day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty seven
