Hello. I have just signed up for this Genealogical Society , though I have been in Ancestry.com for years. I noticed your inquiry in regards to Joshua Fickett. My husband's grandmother was Georgia Etta Fickett b. 1898, married to James Bailey Whittemore from Durham/Bowdoinham & Dixfield. Georgia's Dad was Charles Edward married to Myrtle Arlene Small. My research info on Joshua Fickett ,b. 7 Sept. 1780 , in Scarborough. Married Mary Hunnewell 8-March-1798. Joshua was a 'mariner' and went to sea one day, never to return. His place of death is listed as Sulawesi,Tengah, Indonesia . I have traced back to John Fickett b. about 1650, married to Abigail Libby. Still working on the details....Hope this helps. Marsha Whittemore
Thank you Marsha I to have been able to datemy family back John Fickett / Most of the lineage I found from Family Search & some from Wiki search. Its the details that I keep getting blocked on. I am interrested to know where you found the info on Joshua. I did see Indonesia was written ,I think, on Family Search, but I also read that he died near the Rice School in Durham I think. So many questions. I'm going to try to get to Maine & search around for something on paper. Best of luck with your searches. If I can help let me know. THANKS AGAIN Donna
files.usgwarchives.net/me/cumberland/scarboro/settlers/ficketts.txt Hello,Donna. This was one of my sources for the info on Joshua and other Ficketts. Lots of times I just get frustrated and 'Google' the name I am looking for with their date of birth and place they lived. If I hit it lucky , I will find something useful on the sites that pop up. I also have spent a lot of time ferreting out clues from town 'history' books. So far, most of my work has been done here at home with my laptop, but I plan on going to Augusta Archive Library at some point and get down to the nitty gritty on some things. My husband's father's mother's side is the Fickett line. Keep in touch! If you ever get up near Hartford, Maine , let me know. Marsha.
Thanks again Marsha I may take you up on that. Will keep in touch. Donna Say Hi to your husband , my "maybe cousin/ relative". My dad was Norman Arthur Fickett my grandfather was Arthur E Fickett ( I think the 3rd)
