I've hit another brick wall and wonder if any of you can help. I'm descended from Jeremiah and Marcey Clough's daughter Esther. All of their children were born in Freeport: Hannah (1791), Lydia (1793), Jeremiah (1794), Esther (1795), Susannah (1797) and Joseph (1800). I can find no record of a marriage. I'd like to discover Marcey's maiden name. Also, I can't find Jeremiah's parents. Thanks in advance.

Jeremiah Clough apparently married Mercy Winslow, 14 Apr. 1791 in Cumberland (more probably in North Yarmouth, as Cumberland didn't become a town until 1821). This site says that Jeremiah was the son of Amos and Bethiah (Baker) Clough. There's an interesting quote from Amos Clough, aged 91 years, here.

Now I see that that Amos Clough quote is part of a larger article, "Reminiscences of Bethiah (Baker) Clough."

I understand that Jeremiah Clough was married 3 times, once to my direct ancestor Mercy (Marcey) Winslow on 14 Apr 1791 in N. Yarm.. They had 5 children together. I am descended from Esther Clough and Thomas W. Winslow. Old Times in North Yarmouth claims that Mercy York was one of the wives (John & Nancy were supposedly their children). I can't find the other marriage nor Jeremiah's parents. Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
