In researching the census records i discovered a transcription error John S and John L are one in the same. At first appearances His middle initial looks like an S but if you look carefully its an L So Bessie Mae Holt's Father was not John S but John L Holt. When I finally got that figured out I realized i had his family tree back to England 1576. That was a wonderfully huge leap forward.

My Name is Linda Parilla. I believe Bessie Mae Holt was my grandmother's sister. My grandmother's name was Alma Gertrude Holt. There were 10 children and My Great grandparents names were John Locke Holt and Julia Rollins.

Hope to hear more. My Aunt Bessie Mae was born on February 3rd, 1891 and died in 1943.

Hope to hear back from you. I have more information but this is a good start. We may be related.

John And Julia Holt had 7 children those listed in the 1900 census are Albert, Bessie, Harry, Gladys, and John.

In the 1910 census Albert and Bessie are not listed because they no longer resided with their parents so 1910 list is Harry, Gladys, John, Alma, and Unice (Eunice) as far as I know this is correct their are family rumors that Bessie was adopted and was of native american heritage but we cannot conclusively prove this. Bessie married Pearly Blake Stover Senior they had 21 children of which 13 lived. Their is much confusion as to the number of children John and Julia had because they thought they could never have children so some are surprised to learn they had so many.

John and Julia Holt had a total of 10 children that lived. My Grandmother Alma was the 2nd Alma named after her deceased sister. The information I have is directly from my grandmother and I have it on cassette tape. Bessie was not adopted as far as my grandmother knew. She always told me I shared Aunt Bessie's birthday of February 3rd. I believe we are related and would like to share more of what each of us has. Maybe we could be friends on facebook. All the names you mentioned are in fact my great aunts and uncles. Hope you will stay in touch so we can share. Sincerely Linda

This is fantastic yes we are definitely talking about the same family. Grammy Bessie was allergic to pork sausage and died in the 1940's. the 1920 census has been listed incorrectly for it gives his middle initial as S not L but if you look at the original copy of the census you can clearly make out that its indeed an L.

Aunt Eunice died at 99 yrs old in Canton,Maine we took care of her the last few years of her life till she had to be put in a home under the orders of her doctor she had legionnaire's disease and since it was a contagious illness had to be monitored 24/7. She couldn't see hardly at all and was nearly completely deaf but could tell you what my oldest looked like till the day she died. She was always talking about the tattoo she had on her nknee one she got when she was a flapper in the 1920's.
