Lyndon M. Sidelinker, Obituary

ORONO – Lyndon M. Sidelinker, 87, died Wednesday, June 6, 2007, at Cardinal Health Care, a Lincolnton, N.C., health care facility, after declining health. He was born Aug. 18, 1919, in Veazie, the son of the late Osgood F. and Ada (Mitchel) Sidelinker. Lyndon was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps and U.S. Air Force during World War II. He operated University Barber Shop, Orono, for 44 years. He was a member of the DAV and Norman N. Dow VFW Post No. 1761, both of Bangor, and the American Legion No. 84 of Orono. In 2002, he moved to Hickory, N.C., and then to Lincolnton, N.C. Prior to moving to North Carolina, Lyndon Sidelinker and his sons conveyed their homestead to Orono Public Library Foundation. They are extremely pleased that the property is to be used as the location for the new city library. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Louise Martin Sidelinker. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Lyndon W. Sidelinker and wife, Rosemary, of Bradley, and Terry L. Sidelinker and wife, Debi, of Lincolnton, N.C.; four grandchildren, Wendi McCoy of Old Town, Lyndon Sidelinker of Bradley, Noelle Coutellier and husband, Julien, of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Heidi Sidelinker of New York City; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Elliott Sidelinker of Bradley; several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, June 16, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 89 Main St., Orono, with the Rev. Wilfred Labbe, pastor, celebrant. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments after the service Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church Parish Hall. Interment will be at Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Augusta. Memorial donations may be sent to the Orono Public Library Foundation, P.O.
