Hey Chris. Trying to find out some info on Nettie A. Grant of N. Yarmouth. She married a Harold E. Hayben but was wondering if they had children. Can you help me out with that? Thank you, Mary Anne (descendant of Elizabeth Dunham)

That would be something if we were. My mother's great grandmother was Elizabeth Dunham Farwell. Wife of Horace Alonzo Farwell. He is buried in the cemetary in Cumberland Center. Civil War veteran.

Hey Chris! I am Donna Page's stepmom. Had a phone call today and got some information straight from a family member on the Grant family. Quite interesting stuff. But now forget the Grant family on my husband's side. I want to know if you and I could be related. My great grandmother's name was Velma Dunham Farwell Grant from Cumberland Center. The Dunham came from her mother's maiden name. Then when I was searching my husband's grandmother on his father's side I found out that his cousin is married to a Mary Dunham from Yarmouth. Would be interesting to know. Thank you for all your help that you gave my husband's daughter ...we have come a very long way in a week. Before that we had a very tiny bit of info on Walter Grant. This genealogy is the best stuff whether what you find out is good info or bad. Have a great day!! Mary Anne

Thanks for the quick response. I will start scanning the clippings, bit by bit, and get them posted. As to your comment about local historical societies, I've contacted Standish where the vast majority of the material will be going once it is scanned. On another matter - you responded to my inquiry in May about sourcing data from this site to ancestry.com.. I did work through that issue and although it's not quick it can be done. If anyone else has the same question, feel free to refer them. Thanks Again! Deb

Chris, I am looking for some guidance on the proper distribution of old newspaper clippings, mostly obituaries & wedding announcements. As the only one of seven brothers & sisters actively involved in our family history, upon our fathers death in 2008, I became the keeper of every newspaper clipping or program my grandmother ever collected. Currently I'm in the process of sorting through them & will eventually get most of them to the appropriate family members. There are however, many obituaries (mostly individuals born in the late 1800's & early 1900's) & wedding announcements, of people I do not know. I hate to toss them, as you know how important some small bit of information can be in someones search. Should I send them to the state archives, post them here? What are you're thoughts?

Chris - 1st I'd like to tell you how much I enjoy this site !! Don't know if you can help me or not. I'm finding a good deal of data here that is not available in the ancestry.com database (for example-ME. & MA. vital records). I know I can transcribe info. from one site to another, but is there a way to source the data I find here on ancestry.com? My apologies, if this is a "beginner" question, but that's pretty much my status.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts & guidance.

Thanks for your quick work on adding the Spanish-American War group. I'm reviewing my transcription of the war diary, and hope to post it soon.

Excellent site, Chris. Thanks for your informative and helpful posts.

One quick question: Could a Spanish-American War group be added to the various military conflicts under the groups? I have a transcription of my great-grandfather's diary about his service, and he mentions quite a few men from Aroostook County.

Thanks,

Jim Russo

Yes, I am familiar with those sources. My mother has done extensive research, as have I, and we have pretty much eliminated Abigail Laskey as a parent. I haver tried to reseach the Portsmouth Jacksons who have roots in Kittery and York County but keep running into dead ends. I live in Jefferson and am fortunate to have access to local history.

I am stuck on the Meader side of my tree. I found Ellsworth and Annie B. but no more info on Ellsworth. I found Amelia Cole (Annie's mother) but no further info on either Ellsworth or Annie. Just an obit for Mrs. Ellsworth Meader of Norway. Can you lead me in the right direction?
