Hi Carol,

Thank you so much for your response. Your #6 comment about Albert Forest Hooper having a father Samuel Hooper and mother Mary Leighton is just what I needed to know more about. I have a DNA Cousin with Albert as her grandfather or great grandfather. We are 3rd cousins. Since you said that there  were more potential children William Henry Hooper being one this is what I believe I needed. What source do you have that said he was a sibling? And how did you know he left early? The other potential siblings are James and Calvin? My sailor William Henry Hooper in Chicago named his second born James Calvin. If you have more information on This Samuel Hooper and Mary Leighton married 1840 and their potential children that left early (William Henry Hooper, James and Calvin) that would be amazing. I heard that Calvin was a Sailor and if you google him you will see he important in the artic with cutting through the ice. I heard this story from my DNA cousin.

This is so exciting.

I am leaving for Maine Sept 23 and will be in Bar Harbor for just a few days.

Any information would be so helpful.

Thank you again,

Janine from Chicago area.

Hi Carol,

I am researching William H. Hooper born in 1842 in Maine. He lived in Chicago from at least 1865-66 and was a sailor in Chicago. I do not have his father’s name or any siblings. His census records indicate parents were both born in Maine.  His first born was named Samuel, so that might be an indication of his father’s name.

My DNA cousins seem to be mostly from Hancock County, some from York and one from Machias Maine. Ancestry says my New England roots go back a long way.

I am going to visit Maine Later in September. Just was wondering what information you have about your Hooper family.

Janine
