I am researching Adams. My great grandfather was Alfred Andrew Adams, b. 3 Oct. 1876 in St. John NB Canada. Married Lillian Gladys VanDine in Houlton ME 28 May 1898. They lived in Houlton and then in Caribou. They ended up in Waterville and he died in 1940. Lillian died in 1962. They are both buried in WTVL.
In 1877, The Great Fire of St. John destroyed most records and killed 20 people. My GG grandfather was Andrew Adams who was married to Mary Eliz. Williams of Georgetown, NB, Canada.
One problem I have is that my other maternal GG grandfather ALSO married a woman named Mary. Eliz. Williams from NB Canada....SO MANY COMMON NAMES!
Andrew is my brick wall. I have tons on Alfred A. and Lillian, and have found Mary E. Williams died in St. John in 1886. She is buried in St. John.
Any help you could offer is appreciated.
There is some talk that Andrew died sometime after Alfred was born and before 1885, and that his brother, William then married M. E. Wms, and they had several children together. I have only circumstantial evidence of this and nothing more. There are several trees on Ancestry that list this, but much of the information is not correct.
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer me.
