So we're Ames/Eames and Chandler cousins. As for Sarah Abbot/Abbott, it looks like she is from the Abbotts of Rowley Ma. which is a different line form the Andover Abbotts. By the way, have you seen this site about the Chandlers yet? http://www.mhl.org/andover/Abbott/Chandler%20family.pdf
What an interesting life you have had! You were very lucky to have your name called 2nd and get your choice of Alaska. We were down the road at Eielson AFB, but I know Ft. Wainwright, we used the hospital there. I've also been to Ft. Rucker, my husband's family lives in Dothan, AL. You're right, it's hot there. I like living on the Gulf of Mexico because we always get a breeze and the heat is bearable. If you will email me I can send you the link to getting the George Chandler book. trulyachandler@gmail.com
I had to laugh about you misplacing your box of genealogy material. I hid some jewelry just before Hurricane Opal in 1995 and I haven't found it yet. I will pass on your kind words to my husband, thank you. He served in Viet Nam and was around Agent Orange and also suffers ill affects, as a result. One of his assignments was in Fairbanks, Alaska. We were there for 2 1/2 years and loved it! Where were you stationed in Alaska?
I liked your story about Aunt Mamie's grandfather, you tell a good story. I wish I had asked my grandmother more about her life as a young girl, the few stories she did tell me I treasure. My two sons are not in the least bit interested in family history, but it's something I enjoy doing all the same. Do you know about George Chandler's book
on William & Annis, that I mentioned in an earlier post? You can get it online for free, if
you don't. It's also on ancestry.com. It's full of stories about our Chandlers. Vicki
Wow! Your Aunt Mamie must have been doing something right, to have such a long life!
All my husband's Watson family is mainly from Georgia. He was raised in Miami, FL
and I'm from Arizona and was raised until age 5 in Miami, AZ. Both our maternal grandmothers maiden names were Hughes and his mother was a Chandler just like me,
but not related. We have had the YDNA testing done to prove it. My Chandlers left New England and settled in Kansas and my father moved on to Phoenix, AZ. All my Chandler half-siblings still live in Arizona. My husband retired from the service and we now live in Panama City, FL. I enjoy doing genealogy and I have the George Chandler book, on the William & Annis line, if you need for me to look up anything for you. Vicki
I'm constantly surprised by the longevity in the Chandler family back in the 1700's. When so many died at early ages, it's amazing how long some of our ancestors lived!
I see from your lineage, you have listed Thomas married to Hannah Brown, but my records indicate her name was Hannah Brewer. The two youngest siblings, Henry and Joseph is where our lines split. I have another Chandler Cousin living in Texas, in fact I saw him and his wife a week ago in North Carolina, where the Chandler Family Association held their annual meeting. His line is stems from John, brother to Thomas.
Hi Ivan, I too am from William & Annis Chandler's line. Thomas is my 10th Great Grandfather. After Thomas, my line is Henry>William>Thomas>Henry>Henry>John>
Simeon>Simeon, Jr.> Louis Levi. So glad to hear from you! My contact information is all correct. Vicki
